taehyun & beomgyu's synastry!

combining my niche interests is my favorite thing - so why not go ahead and do it for my two biggest interests, right? i started using astrology to figure idols out on a (somewhat) deeper level purely for characterization purposes, as a writer, and synastry (aka the astrology of relationship compatibility of two people) is honestly perfect for this. looking at taegyu's is especially interesting, because they have a high-tension synastry that i could talk about for hours... but hopefully we'll keep this one short! here's the general txt synastry thread that i did back in september, but without further ado, let's begin.

some things to take note of:

• i use the synastry overlay method, which is just two charts on top of each other. i also use the composite method (aka a blend, or personification, of two people's charts), but less so.
• neither beomgyu nor taehyun have ever given us their birth times. although i have my own guesses (beomgyu - leo and taehyun - scorpio), i won't be using this in this thread. however, rising signs are very much necessary in synastries, so if they ever drop their birth times you can bet i'll be updating this.
• i use these extra asteroids and points: lilith (the dark side we should embrace), chiron (wounded healer), ceres (nourishment), pallas (secret genius), juno (marriage, partnerships and maturity) and vesta (our sacred passion). however, i regard these with less importance than planetary placements for obvious reasons.
• i try to be objective on all things astrology, whether i'm talking about my ults or not. a sexual aspect does not necessarily mean sexualization - it's just a genuine observation, take it or leave it.
• and as always, take everything with a grain of salt if you'd like. i've been studying astrology for nearly two years now, but there's no way to gain mastery over a subject so vast.

my method of synastry-studying follows a one-track mindset - whatever my eyes are drawn to first is what i go with. in taegyu's case, i gravitated straight towards whatever the hell is going on in the aquarius/capricorn section. just to list it out:

1. taehyun is an aquarius sun (ego) with an aquarius venus (love). he has his uranus (innovations) and neptune (spirituality) there (as does beomgyu, because uranus and neptune are slow moving generational planets). he also has his ceres (nourishment) there, and his pallas (secret genius) is at 28 degrees capricorn, whereas his mercury (communication) is at 29 degrees capricorn - but in retrograde, which i will get into. um, hopefully.
2. beomgyu has his aquarius mercury here. along with his uranus and neptune, he also has his lilith (dark side) in aquarius.

that likely sounds like an overwhelming ramble of placements and signs that absolutely don't make sense to most, which is fine. to put it simply, though - to me, it seems like taehyun is someone who naturally takes on a mentor/caretaker role to beomgyu.

this is interesting to me, considering i'm fairly sure beomgyu has called or referred to taehyun as the hyung of the two. but ceres and venus are both placements that soften up the harsher sign of aquarius, which is ruled by saturn naturally (the planet of rules, restrictions and long-term growth) and doesn't do well in the sun, which rules our ego and is why aquarians get a reputation of being the #FriendLovers. friends first, themselves second.

but essentially, if i were to explain it all without explaining planetary shit, i would tell you that taehyun takes care of beomgyu... but not in the way you'd expect. no, he doesn't coddle beomgyu or allow him to wallow for too long. yes, he indulges him, but that's out of pure fondness for beomgyu and his strange, out-of-nowhere questions and conversations. he appreciates this side of beomgyu, because it's likely a side he's grown up scorning in himself... as most aquarians do. at the same time, he allows beomgyu to embrace the lilith in him - which is an immediate stand-out aspect to taegyu's synastry, because beomgyu's lilith is a malefic in his chart.

a malefic is a placement that does more harm than good. we're supposed to embrace our lilith, but beomgyu has moon (emotions) square (conflicting aspect) his own lilith, which causes him to be ashamed of his more chaotic/dark side (just an observation, doesn't necessarily mean it's true). as a result he may have grown up sheltered and has his Several Realizations pretty late. in beomgyu's compatibility with other members, his lilith gets activated, yes, but there isn't a single member that nurtures this side of him the way taehyun does. this may not be a Thing That is Acknowledged between them. it's likely subconscious, but taehyun may secretly want beomgyu to embrace himself and evolve.

the idea of growth and evolution as a mindset is one that we can tie directly to taegyu and their respective scorpio moons. now, these scorpio moons do not contact each other (this depends on their birth times!) and therefore do not create a conjunction aspect, or a harmonious blend of two placements. but here are the attributes that make up a scorpio moon:

1. the moon rules cancer and deals with emotions, memories, nostalgia and in some cases (read: cisnormative astrology), the mother and the mother's side of the family.
2. the moon is in fall in scorpio, aka at its weakest point there. this does not mean scorpio moons don't experience emotions, it just means their way of expression is different than most moon placements.
3. because scorpio doesn't do well with the moon, it immediately leans onto its own ruling planet to make up for it. traditionally, scorpio is ruled by mars, and in modern astrology is ruled by pluto.
4. mars = action, energy and passion.
5. pluto = ego death, transformation and secrets.

essentially, scorpio moon natives (and scorpio placements in general, hence my scorpio rising taehyun theory) are intensely focused on the idea that we are constantly changing and growing. i think this is especially prevalent with taehyun for several reasons. for one, he is heavily ruled by the planet saturn, which rules over both aquarius and capricorn. again, saturn deals with rules, restrictions, and long-term growth. some astrologers view saturn as a malefic, but i think saturn is necessary as it teaches us the pain so we can appreciate what we have. secondly, taehyun's capricorn mercury at the final degree (29) represents the degree of death and rebirth. thirdly, he has an aries mars, and mars also rules aries.

[deep breath] okay, that was a lot. how is beomgyu different?

beomgyu brings in a more artistic point of view... this secret want to be understood (he is a pisces. if you know you know). as a result, he creates in order to speak in several languages, connecting artistically and finding a growth mindset through that. it's honestly a really good reason as to why he's hard on himself, too. 

so when you blend taegyu together, you get someone who focuses on physical exertion to find his growth and change mindset (taehyun and his physical placements), and someone who focuses on mental and spiritual exertion to find his growth and change mindset (beomgyu and his more psychic placements). essentially, they're giving each other necessary perspectives. i wouldn't be surprised if beomgyu's lyricism sparked taehyun to try it out, in this sense. 

however, the most intriguing thing about their synastry, as a mars-lover, is in their mars placements. this is where i get most of my synastry shit from them, i'll be honest. let me break it down:

• taehyun is an aries mars. mars rules aries and scorpio, and aries mars natives tend to be active, full of strength and passion. i'll be real, they're also very sexual beings... but as a sex astrologer i see very little of that in taehyun. seems like he puts more work into other things.
• beomgyu is a sagittarius mars. mars is pretty damn comfortable in any fire sign, and sagittarius is ruled by the planet jupiter, aka the planet of expansion and philosophy. this makes beomgyu flighty but inquisitive, and someone you'd do well to have deep conversations with.
• these placements trine each other, aka a harmonious aspect.

this is definitely a plus to their synastry. their mars placements get activated big time, which means they're probably used to having cool discussions (their mercury placements definitely factor into this!), pushing each other to growth, and, well. not to tinhat, but it's also a classic attraction aspect, of both the romantic and sexual kind. combine this with beomgyu's lilith, and... whew. there's a lot going on in that department. there's also this -

• beomgyu has an aries juno and an aries venus in retrograde. where venus is love, beauty, expression and peace, juno is marriage and long-term commitments. here's the thing, though - venus does not like aries. it's in detriment in both aries and scorpio, which makes the interaction difficult... and on top of this beomgyu is also a retrograde venus.

honestly, i normally don't have trouble interpreting most placements. this isn't me being arrogant, this is me having studied astrologer since early 2018. but beomgyu's aries venus in retrograde? that shit absolutely hurts my brain, and it's pretty hard to explain, but the tldr: he's someone who is a romantic, there's no doubt about it. he's also someone who is incredibly acts of service lean. however, he is not someone who should spent too much time giving to others while never receiving anything in return, because this will ultimately drain him. remember, beomgyu is heavily fire/water dominant with an air mercury - the lack of earth in his chart provides little room for him to find balance.

 

how does taehyun factor in? to put it simply, taehyun doesn't put up with the piscean side of beomgyu. taehyun is someone who needs to lean on people, but likely is of the belief that he can do most things by himself (and if he's leaning on anyone, it's likely going to be soobin, based on their synastry). this allows for beomgyu to conserve some of his energy, but he may fall into the classic trap of not knowing what to do now that he isn't actively taking care of someone. this doesn't mean he doesn't take care of taehyun at all, by the way - this just means taehyun makes it clear that beomgyu doesn't have to. this could go two ways - either beomgyu takes it as a relief, or he falls into his stubborn scorpio moon trap and tries even harder to take care of taehyun, which could put taehyun off completely.

 

the attraction aspect to it is interesting to me too, because, like i said, taehyun's sex astrology is fairly minimal. there's not much there to talk about from that viewpoint (and also, i wouldn't get into it anyway, don't worry!)... however, it's almost like beomgyu activates the side of taehyun that wants to be actively wanted. actively desired. there's just so much dormant mars and lilith energies in both of their charts that gets activated when they're together, and it almost puts me in awe, i won't lie. 

this is a synastry that denotes attraction in the long-term. for most, they feel the spark and then the spark dies out, but for taegyu it's like this continuous mutual want (doesn't necessarily have to be romantic). it's just that they have other harsh square aspects consistently getting in the way of them actively acknowledging this. these harsh aspects may feel like genuine hurdles getting in the way - especially on beomgyu's end, because he may be used to being naturally likable. and it's not that taehyun doesn't like him, it's just that he's less likely to indulge in people constantly.

as a result, beomgyu might feel like he needs to initiate all of their conversations sometimes. he might feel like he needs to do all of the chasing, too. but when they adapt to each other, i can see exactly where their banter comes from - it's why i think beomgyu's aquarius mercury works so well in taegyu's synastry. his mercury placement probably works better with taehyun than with any other member of txt, because it provides for easy banter and easy conversations. again, taehyun enjoys the side of beomgyu that beomgyu doesn't like to show to everyone - the side that is deeply philosophical, interested in odd topics, and comes up with random questions. 

i think there's something to be said about the fact that taehyun's own lilith? yeah. it also aspects beomgyu's chart by conjuncting his sun. super interesting to me that they have two pretty activated liliths. on top of this, beomgyu's pisces sun (and vesta, though i won't focus on that) also trines taehyun's scorpio moon... and here is yet another nurturer aspect. beomgyu's ego (sun) is boosted by helping taehyun in any way he can. in this sense he becomes a hypeman for taehyun.

this sounds super positive, and imo it is! it's just that as an aquarius, taehyun probably feels uncomfortable with too many eyes on him (i'm not talking about fans. i'm talking about on a personal level). beomgyu consistently being starry-eyed with him may actually make him feel confused... because he likely feels like his behavior is actually normal, and that there's nothing to see here. the thing with aquarians is that while this seems like a lack of confidence, it actually just goes to show that aquarians feel like they only need themselves to get places (well, and their friends too, but right now i'm talking about their inner struggles). in my opinion, this is something they can work out just fine, though. it seriously just depends on how likely taehyun is to open up, in that sense.

so the overall tldr - these two have a high-tension synastry because they're pushing each other to grow healthily. they are fundamentally two different people, despite sharing a similar range of placements, and these differences are what bridge them together. while they may not be each other's go-to person, they are definitely hear to learn from each other - and overall, their synastry is one that has an ability to stay stable in tough times. their composite chart shows a heavy blend of pisces and aquarius placements again, but possibly my favorite part of it is their pisces venus as a personified aspect of their chart.

venus enjoys being in pisces, and takes on an artistic, romantic quality to it that shows innocent puppy love between two people. it trines their shared scorpio moon, which makes one or both of them pretty damn possessive. and it definitely shows just how much taehyun can soften up in the face of a caretaker force like beomgyu. just food for thought!

u know i'm obsessed with this, and it was super cool to see how u used astrology to explain their dynamic! a lot of it was stuff that i already kind of agreed with but like. the new stuff that adds to their dynamic of who's taking care of who.. i like it!! tysm for this nova <333
